The Basics of Fiber Prep

Discover the fundamentals of fiber preparation in our comprehensive workshop, "The Basics of Fiber Prep," led by our experienced instructors. Priced at $100 and suitable for ages 12 and above, this 4-hour session covers essential techniques such as skirting, washing, and dyeing alpaca fleece. While your fleece dries, you'll learn how to hand card and drum card alpaca fiber, preparing it for spinning, felting, weaving, and more. Each participant will share a provided alpaca fleece and have access to all necessary tools, including scales, soap, dye pots, drying racks, hand carders, and drum carders. You'll leave the class with finished, dyed, and prepped fiber to use in your future projects. As Kromski and Unicorn dealers, we offer the opportunity to purchase equipment and supplies after the class, ensuring you have everything you need to continue exploring fiber arts at home. Please note that off-site classes require access to warm, running water and electricity for optimal instruction.
